Shipton and Heneage Mens dress shoes are made by some of the finest factories in Northampton, England and Italy. Using the finest traditional methods unsurpassed by most other footwear manufacturers. Our dress shoes are bench-made by traditional craftsmen using techniques refined over hundreds of years. Goodyear welted shoes keep their shape better and last longer than shoes constructed by other methods. The upper is preserved while the sole can be replaced. The upper is attached to a welt which is sacrificial. The welt is attached to the sole. When the sole is replaced the stitching does not damage the upper. By contrast a "Blake" stitched shoe has the upper stitched directly to the sole. This potentially allows for a neater and more elegant shoe, the soles can still be replaced but need to be done by a competant cobbler to prevent damaging the upper. |
